Home visits are only for patients who are truly housebound due to their medical condition. This applies to very few patients. Not having transport or someone to bring you in to the surgery is not a reason for a doctor to visit.
If you feel you need a home visit, or you are a relative or carer calling on behalf of a housebound patient, please call the surgery before 10.30 am. Please provide as much detail as possible to the receptionist, together with a phone number on which you can be contacted. Your request for a visit will be clinically assessed and you will be called back on the contact number you leave. If the clinician cannot get through to you to discuss your need, no visit will take place.
Requests made later in the day may be postponed, until the following day. Please remember that many patients can be seen at the Surgery in the time that it takes to make one home visit. There are also better facilities for examining and treating patients at the Surgery.
