Carers

Carers at KAMP

KAMP provide extra support to carers wherever possible. A carer is defined as ‘anyone who cares unpaid, for a family member or friend who could not always manage without their support’.

Carers can be anyone over 5 years old. If you are a carer, please register with KAMP by visiting the surgery and asking for a Carer’s Pack. We can offer flexible appointments and put you in touch with carers Support Wiltshire who provide information, advice, and signposting to support services, free training courses such as manual handling and caring for someone with dementia, days out, activities, support groups, carers cafes and breaks from the caring role.

Carer’s Emergency Card – Wiltshire

The Carers Emergency Card is a scheme set up to give carers peace of mind by ensuring that the people they care for will continue to receive the care they need if the carer is unable to provide it due to an emergency. A card is issued to the carer with the contact number of a 24/7 call centre and a PIN number which is unique to that carer. Anyone can call that number and inform the emergency response team that alternative care is required for the cared for person. A Carers Emergency Card also gives the carer the opportunity to outline their preferences for alternative care for the person they care for. You can register for the card online, after registering for an account on ‘Your Care Your Support Wiltshire’ or by paper and pen.

Carers Support Wiltshire

We help them to access support, services, education and training, and breaks from their caring role. We ensure carers have a voice in policy making and planning for services, and we work with health and social care professionals and employers to develop best practice. Our services cover the whole of Wiltshire (excluding Swindon) and are available to anyone who is aged 16 or over. We can also provide support to people caring for someone in Wiltshire who does not live in the county themselves or those registered at a GP surgery funded by the NHS Wiltshire Clinical Commissioning Group (CCG).
